TALK ABOUT IT!
Meet Alessia Iglio, the inspiring force behind the DisThe Dis movement. Diagnosed with dyspraxia on the autism spectrum, she’s turned her personal challenges into a mission to redefine what it means to live with a disability.

Thank-You
In September of 2022 Alessia gave a speech at a Summit School fund raiser. The DIS THE DIS Movement started a year later in November of 2023.
At Dis the Dis we aim to challenge the perceived negativity that comes with being labelled Disabled. It can impact on peoples’ perceptions of being incapable, another negatively prefixed category.
The Dis the dis movement was started after discovering that lots of words with the prefix DIS are negative. Words Such as DIShonest, DISapprove, DIScredit and others.
While some people don’t see the term ‘disabled’ as a negative, a great many people living with disability do and that’s why we think we should Dis the Dis ~ Take the DIS out of disABILITY.
We need to spread the word to TAKE THE DIS OUT OF DISABILITY!
We have been spreading the message take the DIS out of DIS ability with Alessia giving her speech since January of 2024.
